Author: Natalija Atas and Vicki Dabrowski

Natalija Atas (left) is a senior lecturer of public health and social care in the School of Social Sciences at Liverpool Hope University. Her research interests incorporate the key areas of social policy enquiry related to topics of poverty, inequality and social determinants of health. She is currently conducting research into the effects of the cost of living crisis and food poverty. Atas strongly believes that our society cannot truly progress without addressing issues of poverty and inequality. She believes that such progress can only be achieved through adopting positive forces of education, empathy and collaboration. She is co-founder of the Poverty Research and Action Network, or PRAN. Vicki Dabrowski is a senior lecturer in the School of Criminology, Investigation and Policing at Leeds Trinity University. Her research explores themes of gender, class, inequality, and crisis, focusing on how these dynamics are reflected and negotiated in everyday life. She is the author of Austerity, Women and the Role of the State: Lived Experiences of the Crisis (Bristol Policy Press, 2020) and is also co-founder of the Poverty Research and Advocacy Network.
