Centered on the 100th anniversary of Acfas and drawing on the 2022 Cross-Canada Official Languages Consultations, this event will discuss the policy recommendations from the recent Acfas report, Portrait and Challenges of Research in French in the Minority Context in Canada, and the potential implications of Bill C-13 – an act to amend Canada’s Official Languages Act.

Speakers will include Sophie Montreuil, the executive director of Acfas; Éric Forgues, the director of the Canadian Institute for Research on Linguistic Minorities; Karl Bélanger, a political advisor for the Canadian Association of University Teachers; Mbaye Diouf, an associate professor of French and Francophone literature at McGill University; Annie Pilote, vice-dean of Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Université Laval & Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences (CHHSS) board vice-chair; and Gabriel Miller, president and CFHSS CEO.
