Sharif Mowlabocus

Sharif Mowlabocus is a professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University. Since 2001, he has been engaged in research located at the intersection of sexuality studies and media studies. His first book, Gaydar Culture, was published in 2010 and represents one of the first substantive analyses of how sexual minorities use digital media resources to negotiate issue of sexual identity, community, practice and health.

Using Racism in the (International) Seminar Room

Over the last ten years I have encountered a range of racist discourse in the teaching environment.The first often emanates from international students who inadvertently make inaccurate generalisations based on racial difference. The second is formed within the seminar room, and emanates from British students towards international students.
