Call for Submissions

Technology fluctuate with new ideas and new sparks of ingenuity. Whether it be new software that maps cliff side erosion, cars that can drive themselves or a new phone with face feature compatibility? Technology is vast and it is because of this developers and researchers can get in on the ground floor to present and share their own ideas.

This spring the American Psychological Association will give scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and students from around the world a platform to share and present their new studies on the nexus of humanity and technology. These interactions include but are not limited to artificial intelligence, robotics, mobile devices, social media, virtual/augmented reality, gaming, geographic information systems, autonomous vehicles, and biomedical technologies

All have until October 20 of this year to submit papers or posters for a three-day conference on Technology, Mind and Society scheduled for April 5, 2018, in Washington, D.C. The American Psychological Association is sponsoring the conference, which aims to address the intersection of people and technology.

Authors have the option to submit original contributions that have not been published elsewhere and all must be written in English. Submissions will be undergo rigorous peer-review for acceptance. Papers must be specific to the conference and must pertain to any one of the four topics below:

Basic research: How humans understand and use technology, impacts of technology on human experience and behavior.
Foundations of technology design: Development of technologies informed by psychological, behavioral, and social science research.
Applications: Development, use, and impact of specific technologies in domains such as aging, education, mental and physical health, recreation, and the workplace.
Broader Implications: Ethical and policy questions concerning the opportunities and challenges arising from human-technology interaction

Due to the variety of field that will be presenting the conference authors submissions may be full papers, extended abstracts, symposia, or posters.
