Social Science Space Celebrates International Women’s Day 2020!

March 8, 2020 3452

Today, March 8, is International Women’s Day. Observed since 1911, the annual event “celebrat[es] the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.” This year IWD is themed “Each for Equal,” and seeks both to raise awareness about and then against bias, and foster action to ensure equality.

While the day’s organizers specifically note that “IWD is not country, group or organization specific,” Social Science Space is definitely focused on the social and behavioral sciences. So to mark IWD, all this week we’ve been spotlighting – on Twitter — exceptional female social scientists from around the world who also have a notable presence on social media.

This selection of 32 scientists isn’t meant to be exhaustive or even comprehensive, but rather a collection of standout women who have demonstrated real impact in their fields and in the world at large. Please take a look at our tweets @SocSciSpace, retweet the ones whose examples inspire you, and perhaps most importantly, tell us who you think ought to join this stellar group. While you’re here, check out a few tweets:

We also have a podcast up with Gina Neff, click here to access it.
