Each year, NYU researchers analyze New York State Medicaid, New York City Department of Education, and New York City subsidized housing data to discover new patterns of family experiences and outcomes and inform new approaches to fighting poverty, reducing inequality, and expanding opportunity in our communities. NYU’s Social Science for Impact Forum will feature presentations from Dr. Sherry Glied, Dr. Ingrid Ellen, and Dr. James Kemple about three NYU-housed datasets (e.g., HEAL, CoreData, and SCHMA). Following the presentations, an expert panel of policymakers, researchers, and philanthropic leaders will discuss a broad vision for how these three unique data sets can be used to impact future directions in policy, practice, and science.
The Institute of Human Development and Social Change will also announce a Summer 2020 funding opportunity for NYU-based teams who develop feasible and innovative applications that leverage the datasets to answer compelling research questions and inform viable policies to improve the lives of children, families, and communities.
