Discussion: Promoting a Culture of Research Impact

May 2, 2024 1996

This discussion on the importance of research impact with Tamika Heiden and Melinda Mills aims to demystify the various pathways through which academic research – with a focus on social science – can influence and contribute to society, whether through public and stakeholder engagement or evidence-based policymaking. The event will be held in-person only at Sage’s London office; there will be no online access.

Research impact extends far beyond traditional academic metrics. We’ll delve into public engagement, showcasing how research can directly affect public knowledge, awareness, and even behavior.

Policy influence is another critical area we’ll explore. Learn how social science research influences policymaking, contributing to more informed and effective policies that address societal needs.

Lastly, we’ll touch on economic and social benefits, highlighting research with the potential to drive innovation, inform social interventions, and contribute to economic growth.

Whether you’re a seasoned researcher, student, in a research office role, or simply interested in the current discussions around research impact, this event promises engaging discussions, practical advice, and a chance to network with like-minded individuals. Stick around for pizza, drinks and the opportunity to connect with people from across media, academia, policy, publishing, and tech.
