Creating a conducive environment to discuss and deliberate on all sorts of issues without inhibitions and superseding surveillance is necessary to promote a good research culture. Only such an environment can guarantee the formulation of questions worthy of research. If not, research in social sciences will become an elitist endeavour to create and recreate ‘facts’ to fulfil the needs of authority.
