NIH Request for Information Seeks Feedback on Social Sciences Research

November 2, 2022 2870

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has released a Request for Information (RIF) for feedback to guide the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research in setting their 2023-28 Strategic Plan priorities and strategic objectives for behavioral and social science research (BSSR).

The office’s mission is to help communicate research findings both within and outside of the government, strengthen health-related BSSR and coordinate BSSR completed by or in conjunction with the NIH.

Feedback is sought regarding three scientific priorities and four cross-cutting themes being prioritized in the strategic plan.

The scientific priorities are to improve the synergy between basic behavioral and social sciences research and research testing approaches to improve health outcomes; enhance and promote research measures, methods, and infrastructure needed to support an integrated and more cumulative approach to behavioral and social sciences research; and accelerate sustained adoption of behavioral and social sciences research findings in practice.

The cross-cutting themes are integration of BSSR across NIH research; diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; and training and capacity building.

Voluntary responses must be submitted by November 14, 2022 by the end of the day EDT via this electronic submission form. Additionally, inquiries may be directed to Kathryn Morris, MPH
at kathryn.morris@nih.gov.
